NEWS FLASH: Real Velcro Inventor Found!
Today the world of Velcro tennis shoes and diapers was turned upside down when the real inventor of Velcro was finally found kissing her lover while lounging in a large milk… yes, milk… bath. Long a mystery due to her private nature, she allowed herself to be found because she said, “Doing what’s right is not always easy but it feels better in the end.” Apparently the inspiration for the invention came to her one day when she was feeling frustrated by the effort required to stay close to her lover while kissing for hours as she likes to do. Her ingenious Velcro invention allowed them to remain lip-locked for extended periods with minimal effort, then separate easily when the need for a drink of water became critical. Although contemporary histories haven’t included this nugget about the true origin of Velcro, our society can feel deeply grateful for her creative solution for such a challenge of passion.

“Generosity: an enhancement” by Richard Powers is a strange little novel. I wanted to share the following passage:
The secret of happiness suddenly seemed absurdly simple: surround yourself with someone who was already happy.
I began to wonder if the author was writing about you? As I pondered, I began working the piece below….
Journey is cyclical with intentions illustrated by
Wanting, desiring, getting, and being
Destination is more than achieving goal
Happiness is floating in the presence of
Laughter lifting souls and dancing through the waves
Playful erotic invention begins in the mind
Looking to feel the magic of electric touch
Hearing the taste of tongue trailing over skin
Seeing the sound of heartbeats synchronize
Breathing deeply and discovering you
She is earth and moon; he is sun
Aligning beyond the physical
Knowing self to give back more
Energy flowing where there is no end
Weaving into the cosmos where there is no beginning
Together creating more gentleness
Releasing kindness onto the wind

A poem that I wrote after the time we shared…I feel you when I breathe
Like the scent of jasmine
Caressing a dewdrop…
Safe journeys together.

Integration
In the presence of the servant of a goddess
In a house filled with space and light
A waking vision came to me -
Of a self beside my Self.
Shadowy and translucent -
As though filled with unowned deeds -
But loving and wise, gentle and childlike,
Awaiting forgiveness and acceptance
By the greater Self.
This vision, while troubling for the lovely servant,
Was understood by me as the stuff of the gods.
Like an uninvited nightmare
It was sent for a greater reason than reason could know,
And not to be idly pushed away.
I embrace the vision.
I welcome the shadow without fear or reservation,
Without shame or judgment.
Just as nightmares come with messages,
So did this vision of a self beside my Self:
I must work the shadow back into my core.
Using breathwork and imaging and holy incantations -
Allah Ah!
Allah Oum!
It is about Integrity.
As for the servant of the lovely goddess -
She did well.
Sharing her living spirit and practicing healing breathwork.
All was as it should be.
Allah Ah . . .
Allah Oum . . .

Inside My Heart
You slipped inside my torn and ragged heart
Binding fresh wounds with sure yet gentle touches.
It was as though you passed unfelt through a narrow opening
Into a great, unused space –
The central chamber of my Dragon’s heart –
And began a quiet, woman’s work of rearranging.
With breathwork and awareness,
Chanting the names of the One,
Kissing and caressing,
You rushed nothing,
You forced nothing.
You created a secret place
For future growth.
Arms and hands and fingers
Outstretched, moving in great arcs,
Like a ballerina before a performance,
In wide, slow circles on a darkened stage,
Taking full and accurate measure for optimum use.
The stage was not ready –
Baggage from old shows lay around –
Obstacles for stumbling.
You ticketed these for later removal
By unseen hands.
Such a good start.
Understated, yet filled with future potential –
No vain efforts to open unready portals.
A waking Butterfly Guide
Whispers your name with budding adoration
And a loving smile.

After we spoke I felt a surge -
Unmistakable -
A surge of energy from you I did not expect.
I was simply open
To a subtle grace.
Careful, calculated, cautious -
You are -
But there is an underlying passion,
Framed by a practical intelligence,
That plunges to depths I won’t pretend to reach.
Such is your Goddess way,
To men who worship you:
Shrouds and veils and misperceptions
Blend with many questions and few answers
And . . .
With trust,
Much, much, love.

When I got home I spent time being with my experience of our time together and wrote a poem for us named “Sanctuary” in honor of the safe place of love, caring and growth that you have created for us when we’ve been together.
Sanctuary
Breathe… be…
Trust in surrender
We seek our language
In touch beyond touch.
Deep truths want new homes
Explored in real light
True names share strength
With love, care and insight.
Breathing and being…
Surrendered in trust
Our language is growth
In touch beyond touch.

Thought you might like to know that your muse is showing:
Iron Turtle knows
hot tub thoughts
finishing a nice cabernet
Iron Turtle sits on
hot tub steps
quietly taking it all in
Iron Turtle knows
sitting on the hot tub steps
quietly listening to random thoughts
Iron Turtle knows
dinners silent joys laughter
sisters-in-law reminiscing
One drinks Riesling
me Cabernet
The other drinks thoughts of mother in a nursing home
Love joins later
Home late
Surrounded by women
Daughters mothers wife
I love them all so dearly
While thinking of you
What fascination forbidden
What pleasures received
What inspiring muse
Iron Turtle knows
Saying nothing
Accepting like you
Iron Turtle knows
Unspoken poems
Of you.
